WELL-known fleet industry figure Bob Rider is stepping down as joint managing director of debis Car Fleet Management at the end of this month. His departure will end the latest chapter in a 30-year career in the fleet industry, and leave colleague Hubertus von Zastrow as sole managing director of the company.

Rider spent eight years as managing director, leading the company on an expansion drive which included the acquisition of Masterdrive Leasing & Rental in June, when von Zastrow was put in charge of finance and Rider in charge of sales and marketing. During his 30 years in the industry, he has worked for Masterdrive, Avis Rentacar, Avis Car Leasing and Lease Plan. A member of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association Leasing Committee and former chairman of the association's training sub-committee, Rider is particularly noted for his work in the field of training.
