ESSO and Shell are going head to head with the national rollout of their ultra low sulphur diesel products at thousands of forecourts throughout the country. And Lex Transfleet is to convert its nationwide diesel bunker network to the clean fuel.

Esso's Diesel 2000 and Shell's Pura diesel will replace the companies' current diesel products. About 1,800 Esso service stations and 1,500 Shell stations will have the fuels by the end of the year, with both claiming their new fuels offer substantial cuts in emissions levels.

Lex Transfleet is also joining the push for low sulphur diesel by only dispensing ultra low sulphur diesel at its network of bunker sites, which is estimated to cut five tonnes of sulphur from Lex Transfleet vehicles emissions every year.
