NATIONAL Car Rental's UK fleet director David Willsher has resigned from the daily rental giant to set up his own consultancy in Belgium. He was the longest serving fleet director among the major UK rental firms, and played a key industry role on British Vehicle Rental & Leasing Association committees.

John Leigh, senior vice-president of Autonation, NCR's parent, paid tribute to the role Willsher had played in growing the company, saying he had vast knowledge and experience of the industry. He will leave the company at the end of April, and be replaced by Stephen Deakin.

In a further move, Neil McCrossan has been appointed NCR's vice-president sales, Europe, and the company is in the process of recruiting a new UK sales director.
