Volvo takes Euro pricing initiative

VOLVO has published its new price list in both Sterling and Euros to make international price comparisons more transparent. The dual pricing move - believed to be a UK first among vehicle manufacturers - is part of a pan-European initiative that will see all European Volvo importers price vehicles in both their local currency and the Euro. A spokesman said: 'This helps people to make like-for-like comparisons. We are working towards price harmonisation and our prices are levelling out.'

In the new Volvo UK price list, the figure in Euros is for illustration purposes only - customers will not have the option of paying the Euro price because of the risk of exchange rate fluctuations. The Euro figure is based on an exchange rate of 1.49883 Euros to £1 Sterling, and indicates that the on-the-road price of the Volvo S80 2.4 (140bhp) is Euro 34,363.51 (£22,935). Full details of Volvo's new prices have not yet been made public.
