Evans, who joined Peugeot in 1981 as marketing director before becoming sales and marketing director until promotion to his latest job in 1994, succeeds Richard Parham who announced two weeks ago that he would be leaving Peugeot at the end of the month.
Parham quit the company as a consequence of widespread re-organisation within the PSA Peugeot Citroen Group which appeared to diminish the role of managing director of Peugeot in the UK, with the Ryton manufacturing plant becoming part of the international manufacturing division. Two new directors have also been appointed to the Peugeot board - Christophe Gothier, director of manufacturing at Ryton, and Mike Judge, director of personnel in the UK.
