UK to get right-hand-drive Kangoo car

RENAULT is to produce its Kangoo car in right-hand-drive for the UK market. On sale in the UK from October, it will be available with a choice of two engines - a 1.4-litre 75bhp petrol or 1.9-litre 65bhp diesel. Prices and specification will be announced closer to launch but it is expected to cost less than £11,000. The van version was introduced in the UK in April and more than 8,000 unit have been sold. Renault is confident of selling up to 10,000 of the car variant in a full year.

A spokesman said: 'When we launched the Kangoo car on the Continent about a year ago, we were told it would take a lot of re-engineering to make it right hand drive. We weren't sure how popular the car version would prove in the UK and therefore held back. But with the success of the Kangoo car on the Continent and customer requests in the UK, we have decided to go for it.'
