HYUNDAI is bidding to capitalise on its recent world rally championship with the imminent launch of the new Accent. Next year, Hyundai expects to sell 35,000 units, up 5,000 on this year, with half of them Accent models and 20% of all stock going to fleets.

When Accent goes on sale in January, it will continue with the current 73bhp 1.3-litre and 87bhp 1.5-litre line-up, although the petrol engines have been tweaked to improve fuel economy and performance. In the UK, the Accent will be available in saloon and three- and five-door hatchback guise and there will be two trim levels. Cabin space has been increased and the car is slightly longer.
