THE UK and France have made a commitment to work together to develop a more environmentally-friendly transport policy. Together, the nations plan to integrate different modes of transport more effectively.

Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott and Transport Minister Lord Whitty reached an agreement with French Minister for Transport and Housing Jean-Claude Gayssot to pursue a 'joint initiative' through regular meetings with their respective departments. One of the main agreements was to increase the sharing of information on road safety and to propose a joint road safety campaign.
