FLEETS are being urged not to buy BMW cars for a year in protest of the German firm's sell-off of Rover Cars. John Caudwell, chairman and chief executive of communications group the Caudwell Group, has launched a campaign to urge the British car buyer to 'support the Rover workforce'.

Caudwell's aim is to get as many people to register their support through a website (www.saverover.co.uk).

The electronic petition reads: 'By signing our boycott BMW petition, it is possible that BMW can be persuaded to change its minds about the disposal of Rover. We would like you to boycott buying BMW for a minimum of one year.'
