Three-cylinder diesel for Polo S

VOLKSWAGEN'S three-cylinder 1.4-litre diesel engine is now available in S-trim Polos, priced at £11,670 for the three-door and £12,135 for the five-door version. The 75bhp pump injection 'pumpe duse' engine was launched in the Polo SE in February and has now also been added to the Lupo range.

In Polo S specification there is a saving of £950 over the SE, but standard equipment includes front electric windows, central locking, twin front airbags, immobiliser, anti-lock brakes, power steering, adjustable steering wheel and body-colour trim.

'The PD Lupo Sport costs £10,895 on-the-road, has a top speed of 106mph, 0-62mph acceleration of 12.3 seconds, extra urban fuel economy of more than 75mpg, and a carbon dioxide emissions performance of 116g/km. Combined cycle fuel economy in the Polo TDI PD exceeds 62mpg and CO2 output is 120 g/km.
