A NEW survey claims rising fuel prices and soon-to-be-introduced carbon dioxide emission tax policies are having little effect on fleet policies. It is the latest in a number of surveys suggesting ignorance over fuel bills and the impact of the introduction of carbon dioxide-based company car tax.

Allen Fleet Services' survey claimed 80% of companies had no idea of the size of their fuel bills and, while 75% were aware of changes to company car tax and the introduction of CO2-based VED and workplace parking levies, 66% did not expect to change their policies. Mark Allen, managing director of Allen Fleet Services, said it was surprising only 26% anticipated changing to low emission vehicles, given the tax implications. The survey also showed that if road tolls were imposed, 46% would encourage more video conferencing to reduce journeys, but only 25% would impose working from home.
