Ford boss joins single currency call

FORD's European chief Nick Scheele says Britain must embrace the Euro by 2006 and that a failure to do so would be a cause for concern for car manufacturers. Ford joins the list of vehicle makers with UK operations calling for Britain to join the single currency.

The opportunity to trade in Euros insulates vehicle manufacturers against currency fluctuations of up to 30% which are being faced with the strength of the Pound.
