THRIFTY Car Rental has struck a deal with Mitsubishi to take delivery of 105 new vehicles.

The rental company will take delivery of 75 new Mitsubishi Shogun Pinin five-door vehicles and 30 Mitsubishi Shoguns on to its 6,500-vehicle fleet until the end of the year.

Andrew Burton, Thrifty sales and marketing director, said: 'In the area of national accounts, specialist vehicles are requested but often difficult to come by. In the local corporate market, we deal with a number of small to medium companies looking for something different. By increasing our coverage of the 4x4 sector our branches will have another product to offer customers.'

Mitsubishi UK sales and marketing director, Paul Williams, added: 'The rental and user-chooser sectors of the car industry are now mirroring the retail market. Customers are becoming more selective in their requirements and our niche products such as the Shogun Pinin and Shogun are ideal.'
