£500 premium for new Ford diesels

FORD will be asking for a £500 premium for the new diesel Mondeo over the existing car when it goes on sale in January, and £1,000 extra for the common rail Focus.

The Mondeo 2.0 TDCi will be available in LX, Zetec, Ghia, Zetec-S and Ghia X variants in hatchback, saloon and estate versions, and will be sold alongside the 2.0 TDdi which boasts 113bhp compared with the new unit's 130bhp, and does not have common rail injection.

The Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi is priced from £16,145 for the LX saloon and hatchback, compared with £15,645 for the 2.0 TDdi LX. The Focus 1.8 TDCi will be available in LX, Zetec and Ghia versions on five-door hatchback and estate models and Ghia versions of the four-door Focus saloon.

Prices start at £14,345 for the five-door 113bhp 1.8 TDCi Zetec, compared with £13,345 for the equivalent 88bhp 1.8 TDdi Zetec.
