BT Fleet Partners, Britain's biggest fleet and winner of the UK Fleet of the Year 2001 title at the Fleet News Awards, has become one of the first fleets in the country to calculate its emissions from all forms of staff transport.

The detailed table of carbon dioxide emissions, which also covers use of electricity, gas and oil, reveals since 1996/1997 it has cut total CO2 emissions by more than 349 million kilograms.

The report reveals that air travel accounted for about 25 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions and rail travel 11.3 million kilograms. In comparison, its fleet of 16,000 company cars produced about 37 million kilograms of CO2, while private cars used on business were responsible for more than 5.5 million kilograms.
