A RECORD number of UK debuts will be unveiled at Fleet Show 2001 as manufacturers flock to sign up to the new London-based event, to be held at Alexandra Palace from May 1-3. A total of 17 manufacturers has so far booked to attend this year's show, at least 12 debuts are planned and more could be announced.

The 17 manufacturers booked to exhibit are: Alfa Romeo, Audi, Citroen, Fiat, Honda, Isuzu, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, MG Rover, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Reliant Cars, Renault, Smart, Subaru, Volkswagen and Volvo. MG Rover will use the show as the UK launchpad for the all-new MG range of cars - the ZR, ZS and ZT - and fleet managers will also have the chance to see the Rover 75 Touring close up for the first time.

Mercedes-Benz is planning four UK debuts at the Fleet Show, including the revamped A-class and a long wheelbase version of the car. Its stand will also host the C-class estate and Sports Coupe, both of which go on sale two weeks after the event. And rival luxury car maker Jaguar will show the X-type for the first time in the UK.
