Mercedes bids to beat the tax with free optional upgrades

COMPANY executives can gain access to extra options on the Mercedes-Benz E-class while avoiding significant increases in their tax burden.

The Classic Pack is available free of charge and means company car drivers can upgrade their specification without increasing the P11D price of their car.

It includes 16-inch alloy wheels, leather trimmed wheel and gearshift plus metallic paint, adding more than £1,200 of equipment for no extra cost.

The Elegance Pack costs an extra £1,000, but includes leather seats and heated front seats which, chosen as separate options, would cost £1,527.

The Avantgarde Pack includes metallic paint, 17-inch alloy wheels, leather trim and xenon discharge headlamps for £1,000 - a saving of more than £1,700 over choosing the options separately.
