TOYOTA has announced prices for its new diesel-powered RAV4 D4-D.

The car uses a version of the 2.0-litre common rail diesel already used in the Avensis, Corolla and Previa ranges, but power is increased to 114bhp.

It has carbon dioxide emissions of 190g/km, putting it in the 23% band for company car tax from April 2002 (including the 3% supplement for diesels). The diesel will achieve nearly 40mpg on the combined cycle and will accelerate from 0 - 62mph in 12.1 seconds.

The three-door RAV4 D-4D starts at £15,995 for the NV model and the rest of the range (NRG, GX and VX) will cost £1,000 more than petrol models.
