AVIS Europe is targeting its corporate customers with its newly-launched internet remarketing site.

The car rental giant hopes fleets will buy 'nearly new' cars online directly from its website (www.yourautochoice.com), including ex-rental cars from Avis's fleet as well as vehicles from other suppliers. The initiative is a joint venture with e-commerce solutions provider Navidec, and will extend across Europe.

Avis carries the residual value risk on about 20% of its fleet, and company chief executive Mark McCafferty said he hoped yourautochoice.com would help Avis 'in terms of improving the yield on the vehicles that we dispose of'. Avis claims yourautochoice.com offers:

  • Hundreds of cars less than 18 months old, with low mileage, full service histories and still covered by manufacturers' warranties.
  • A simple process for customers to find their ideal car online.
  • Delivery to the customer's door.
  • Weekend test drives.
  • Online financing options and a 'no questions asked' return policy within seven days.
Saad Hammad, the newly-appointed chief executive of yourautochoice.com, said the online used car disposal concept was one that 'can be rolled out across Europe'. (August 2000)
