A NEW vehicle tracking software system aims to allow fleet decision-makers to spend more time problem solving.

Siemens Datatrak has launched the system, called CommBase 3.05, which automatically raises alerts when problems or situations arise involving tracked vehicles.

The company said: 'If normal operating parameters, as defined by the fleet manager, are breached, then CommBase will issue an alert that a particular tracked vehicle has, for example, not reached a certain point by the allocated time.

'This allows notification to be given to the supply chain and alternatives proposed to ensure it remains cohesive and that late delivery penalties are not incurred.'

Another feature is route monitoring, which will warn the fleet control room if a vehicle appears to be falling behind schedule.
