VOLVO has launched a new dealer-based short-term car rental service primarily aimed at the fleet market.

Called Volvo Rental it will provide the corporate market with interim car cover, helping fleets that need a short-term increase in their fleet size or enabling them to provide cars for visiting executives.

It will also allow company car opt-out drivers to have use of a vehicle while awaiting delivery of their new car.

The new service has been launched at seven dealerships throughout the country with plans to increase the coverage during next year. Volvo leasing and rental manager John Wallace said: 'The rental scheme will provide many new opportunities to talk to local businesses and the retail community.

'Rental is a growing market and Volvo Rental is an integral part of Volvo's growth strategy to gain additional sales and provide Volvo dealers with a new revenue opportunity.'

The seven dealers piloting the service are Motorworld in Oxford, Riverside in Hull, Cambridge Garage in Havant, Lipscomb in Ashford, Pilling Motors in Milton Keynes, Kastners in Exeter and Murray in Glasgow.
