Congestion charging discount leads to surge in gas interest

VAUXHALL is claiming increased interest in its range of Dualfuel vehicles following the announcement of the £5 weekday congestion charge for central London from February 2003.

Gas-powered vehicles are eligible for a full discount on the charge on payment of an annual registration fee of £10. It means an employer with a fleet of essential car users heading daily into London could save up to £1,300 per car per year in congestion charges - offsetting most of the cost of a factory-fit LPG conversion on a new car.
