THE majority of company car drivers are aware of changes to company car tax being launched next month, with 88% saying it will affect their next choice of vehicle. This compares to 37% who said the current system has already influenced their choice of car.

Reactions under the current system vary from changing make or model (27%), moving to a smaller car (15%), changing to a diesel car (22%), taking the cash option (16%) and saying it makes no difference (20%).

A Godfrey Davis (Contract Hire) survey also found that 44% of drivers receiving free fuel for private mileage were either unaware of how much it cost them in tax, or did not care.
