The first new Vectra to be built at Vauxhall's Ellesmere Port plant on Merseyside has rolled off the production line.

Getting a ride in the passenger seat of the metallic green 3.2-litre V6 model was the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry Patricia Hewitt.

She was driven by the factory's longest serving employee, Dave Hall, who started work there in 1956.

The new Vectra goes on sale on June 13.
