DEMAND for vans is booming at British Car Auctions' Newmains site in Scotland.

The centre claims it is regularly receiving more than 200 vehicles with every sale, with buyers buoyed by low interest rates and a healthy economy.

Vendors at the firm's regular sales include Northgate Vehicle Sales, Sixt Kenning, National Car Rental, Consignia, Lex Vehicle Leasing and the Ministry of Defence. Stuart Ashcroft, manager of the auction centre, said: 'With a reasonably settled outlook, there is a lot of confidence in the Scottish market - both from the professional buyer at auction and the end-user.'
