New fleet safety guide speaks in plain English

A PLAIN English guide to fleet safety for company car drivers is being targeted at firms, covering dangers including road conditions, basic vehicle maintenance, fatigue and safe driving habits.

The booklet, called Road Safety for Employees, can be branded with a company's own logo and is intended for distribution by all fleet vehicle operators to company car drivers.

Scriptographic Publications, a UK publisher of employee training material, produced the guide as a simple way of addressing key fleet safety issues. The guide has won a Crystal Mark for clarity from the Plain English Campaign.

Michael Whitcroft, managing director of Scriptographic Publications, said: 'Driving is one of the most dangerous activities within the workplace and, with more than three million company cars on our roads, the safety message cannot be overstated.'
