LUXURY pick-up trucks are being snapped up at auction as the new market sector continues to grow.

PLEX Publishing says that the Mitsubishi L200 is still the favourite, particularly the two-tone paint 4Life version with high-spec and low mileage.

Mick Bennett, commercial vehicle editor of PLEX Publishing, said: 'This in no way detracts from the excellent competition in the sector, notably the Mazda B2500, Ford Ranger, Nissan pickup, Toyota Hilux and even the Tata Loadbeta which, if presented in retail condition, nudge PLEX trade prices at auction.

'One must be aware that bolt-on bits for this sector of the market can be quite expensive, with canopies and winches now costing in excess of £1,500 per item.

'As PLEX values are for standard models, allowance should be made for those extras.'
