FLASH floods across Britain could spark a multi-million pound series of damage claims from fleets.

Torrential rain in the past week led to many areas of Britain flooding, catching out company car drivers on the road. According to AMC Accident Management, the average cost of repairs for vehicles damaged by floods is £1,000 per car.

AMC issued the warning after examining its incident database for the past year. Further research revealed the average cost of an accident caused by driving in severe weather was £1,500.

Ian McKenzie, chief operating officer, said: 'Company car drivers need to pay much more attention to road and weather conditions in order for these sorts of costs to be avoided.'
