Dot security

MITSUBISHI is offering a new hi-tech vehicle security product called Mighty Dot as an accessory throughout its dealer network.

It will be fitted as standard to the Lancer Evolution VII, while customers can pay for other vehicles to be fitted with the security system.

Mighty Dot works through the application of a unique spray of 5,000 polyester microdots to the engine, chassis and body parts of the vehicle.

Each dot, smaller than a pinhead, is laser etched with an individual PIN number. The sprayed area is easily visible under ultraviolet light and the dots can be read with a microscope.

Once the product has been applied the PIN number is held on the International Security Register, enabling simple identification of vehicle parts. Mitsubishi dealers will charge £180 per vehicle plus fitting.
