COMPANY car drivers are advised to brush up on the role they can play in curbing deaths and injuries at the roadside.

The warning comes from the AA, a member of the SURVIVE group (Safe Use of Roadside Verges in Vehicular Emergencies) which warns that using motorway hard shoulders or highway verges, often in poor visibility during winter, means that the chance of near-misses and accidents is increased.
