SUBARU'S revised Impreza is now on sale boasting new styling, better fuel economy and emissions and improved handling.

The new-look range also includes a power boost and price cut for the WRX, which now has 222bhp and matches the Ford Focus RS at £19,995 on-the-road (down by £1,500), while the high performance STi model is cut by £2,500 to £24,995.

Benefit-in-kind tax for drivers of the new WRX model will be significantly lower for 2003/04 with the £1,500 list price cut combined with lower emissions putting it in the 27% tax band where the old model would have been in the 32% bracket.

The WRX engine has been re-tuned to run on 98 octane fuel, but this comes with a 3mpg improvement in average fuel consumption at 30.7mpg. Normally aspirated models, which also benefit from lower emissions, are expected to be available from April.
