The latest five-star car, the Volkswagen Touran, has been unveiled in the most recent round of Euro NCAP crash tests, which witnessed the introduction of a new child protection rating for cars with child seats.
While manufacturers continued to perform well in occupant protection, they were urged to do more on pedestrian protection. Meanwhile, the Kangoo was tested for the first time and was the first Renault for three years to score less than five stars for occupant protection.
However, as the Kangoo is not available with side airbags, it could not be tested at the five-star level, which includes the side impact pole test.
Recent Kangoo adverts played in cinemas this year showed it being used by Wallace and Gromit, animated stars of the Oscar-winning cartoons.
