ALFA Romeo will launch a four-seater coupe based on the 156 at the end of this year. Designed in conjunction with Bertone, the GT Coupe has significantly different styling from the 156, but will share engines, including the 140bhp 1.8-litre Twin Spark, 165bhp 2.0 JTS direct injection petrol, and the 140bhp 1.9 JTD 16-valve diesel unit.

The range will be completed by a GTA variant using a 250bhp 3.2-litre V6 engine capable of 160mph.

Meanwhile the GTV and Spider have been freshened up with crisper styling, including a grille similar to the 147, new specifications and the introduction of two new engines – the 2.0 JTS and 3.2-litre V6 although the 2.0 Twin Spark will continue. Alfa Romeo also unveiled a four-wheel drive sport utility vehicle/MPV cross-over called Concept X at the show.
