FURTHER emphasising its role as the sporting brand within the Volkswagen Group empire, SEAT unveiled two near production versions of the Ibiza Cupra R at the show, one using a 150bhp diesel motor.

The Ibiza Cupra R (pictured), developed by SEAT Sport, has a restyled front end, five-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels, sports seats and steering wheel and black interior trim.

The supermini will come with a choice of VW Group-sourced engines: the 150bhp 1.9TDi has more than 220lb-ft of torque, while the 1.8-litre 20V Turbo churns out more than 180bhp. It incorporates SEAT's Agile Chassis concept with Dynamic Steering Response, and is expected to start at around £15,000 when it comes to the UK at the end of the year.
