The fleet, which consists of panel vans, dropside tippers and minibuses, will be used as maintenance vehicles. It is the council's second order for clean-fuel vehicles.
Andrew Stevens, franchise manager at Lex Commercials which supplied the fleet, said: 'LDV's range of transport solutions met the council's needs and that, coupled with low running costs and environmentally friendly emissions, provides a first class fleet.'
The council has also ordered a specially adapted highway maintenance van, designed to work in adverse weather conditions. John Short, director of Swindon Services said: 'Swindon Borough Council has enjoyed a long relationship with LDV awarding many tenders to them in an increasingly competitive market. The range progresses all our financial and environmental policy requirements and the fact that we were able to request an exact vehicle specification appealed to us.'
