COMPUTER distributor Ingram Micro has signed up to Arma's all-inclusive contract hire agreement that includes maintenance and fuel in a single monthly rental.

The Milton Keynes-based company chose Arma on the basis that it could provide contract hire inclusive of fuel and generate management reporting for use by its accounts and personnel departments.

Ingram Micro runs a solus fleet of 26 Audi company cars that Arma supplies on a three-year/90,000 mile contract. Sales team staff receive a diesel Audi A4 and sales managers qualify for a diesel Audi A6.

Recruitment officer Debbie Carter looks after the company fleet and relies on Arma's reporting to reduce the time and effort spent on fleet administration.

'The reports Arma generates each quarter are very accurate and need to be as we pass the driver and fuel information onto other departments for analysis and to work out driver's car and fuel tax liability,' Carter said.

'Having fuel, finance and maintenance costs on a single invoice helps reduce paperwork. The reporting helps us monitor our drivers as Arma's reports flag up problem areas such as poor fuel consumption or high maintenance costs,' she added.

  • FLEET drivers should be presented with regular reports on the fuel economy of their vehicles to hammer home the cost of their driving style.
Fuel cards are an essential part of the plan, as they provide a simple method of summarising petrol or diesel use and average fuel economy, according to leasing firm Arma.
Liam Donnelly, managing director of Arma, said: 'The fuel card captures essential management information and is much easier to administer in comparison to the handling of fuel receipts and reimbursing fuel costs via the payroll.
'Our fuel consumption reports are shared with each driver to reinforce the costs involved in fuelling their car.
'The driver is rarely kept in the picture regarding costs associated with running their company car, which is a mistake as by influencing their behaviour a company can control and reduce costs more effectively.'
