LEX Defence has provided the British Army with more than 240 vehicles for its mobile recruitment drive across the UK.

The fleet comprises 92 Ford Ranger 4x4s, 92 recruitment drive display trailers, 33 Vauxhall Astra estate cars, 10 LDV 17-seat minibuses and 15 Ford Galaxys.

Lex Defence has converted the Galaxys into mobile career information offices, complete with drop down 13in video screens, mobile laptops, tables and swivel seats. Each of the vehicles features standardised livery making the Recruitment Group's new corporate image consistent throughout the fleet. This was no small challenge as it had to take into account 92 different regiment logos.

Lex Defence managing director Brian Grant said: 'This has been a very rewarding and successful new element of our white fleet contract and being able to work in partnership with the Recruitment Group and developing trust early on in our working relationship was instrumental in its success. Through continual discussion we have been able to ensure that we deliver exactly what the teams need from their fleet of vehicles in order to achieve their objectives.'

Earlier this year, Lex Defence announced it had been awarded a massive £100 million contract to supply specialist vehicles to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) as part of one of the largest deals in fleet history.

The ground-breaking agreement came in addition to a £500 million 10-year 'white fleet' contract awarded to Lex Defence in 2001 for 9,000 'non-combat' vehicles in a record-breaking contract.
