Threat of jail

COMPANY car drivers who cause death by dangerous driving could be jailed for up to 14 years, under proposals presented to Parliament earlier this week.

The amendment to the Criminal Justice Bill is seeking to increase sentences up from 10 years. As well as dangerous driving, tougher sentences of the same length are to be introduced for killing while driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
