A FREE pamphlet offering information on carrying loads safely has been published by the Fleet Safety Forum, a division of Brake, the road safety charity, and ALREM, the Association of Load Restraint Equipment Manufacturers.

Areas covered include responsibility, legislation and guidelines, the principles of load safety, loading and load arrangements and load safety for bikes, motorbikes, cars, vans, trucks, buses and coaches.

In the UK, 4,000 successful prosecutions for unsafe loads are brought against drivers and operators every year, with many more incidents of loss of loads or part of loads going unreported.
