• VEHICLE service support company FMG Group has made two appointments. Melanie Webster becomes group marketing manager. She was previously with refinish paint company PPG Industries for six years. Matt Child takes on the role of business development director with FMG. He joins the company from Caudwell Group where he was channel director.

  • SIMON Wells has been appointed centre manager for Manheim Auctions' Wimbledon site. He joins from the Virgin Group, where he was sales manager. Before that he worked for Lex Retail, CarLand and the Dixon Motor Group.

  • ENTERPRISE Rent-A-Car has made two senior promotions. Jim Burrell takes over the newly-created role of vice- president of European operations and Brice Adamson takes on Burrell's previous role as UK managing director. Burrell joined Enterprise in 1984 and has held several managerial positions. Adamson joined in 1988 and has been general manager for London and the south east region since 1999.

  • THERE have been two changes at the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMI). Bob Hood has, with immediate effect, resigned his position as independent garage and bodyshop director. Chief executive, Matthew Carrington, said that the federation was actively seeking a replacement. Nick Jones has joined the RMI's management board as human resources director. He was previously head of HR with RAC Consumer Services Division and, before that, was HR director at BSM.

  • SIR Christopher Foster has announced his retirement as chairman of the RAC Foundation for Motoring. He has held the position since 1999 and, alongside all motoring issues covered by the charity, he chaired its independent inquiry, Motoring Towards 2050. Foster is succeeded by David Holmes, who has been a member of the public policy committee since 1995. He was formerly with British Airways as director of government and industry affairs. Before that he held senior roles in the Department of Transport and the Treasury.

  • GRAHAM Wheeler has been appointed sales and marketing director with Europcar Fleet Services (ECFS). Wheeler works closely with pan-European and international fleet customers and, in this newly-created role, takes responsibility for the sales and marketing activities of a fleet of 75,000 managed vehicles in Volkswagen Leasing and 35,000 vehicles under the ECFS banner in Germany.
