CHEVIN Fleet Solutions is increasing its business in the US after opening an office in Massachusetts and signing two new fleets to its fleet management software system.

The company offers FleetWave, an internet-based fleet management system, and RoadBASE, which is a PC-based system.

El Paso Corporation is North America's leading provider of natural gas services and one of its companies, El Paso Field Services, is the latest customer to use FleetWave.

The company, which has 800 vehicles, was using its own in-house technology but needed to upgrade the system to make it more stable and improve the reliability of data being submitted. Drivers work over a large geographical area so the company wanted an internet-based system that drivers could use to submit their own data.

Chevin said the system has streamlined El Paso's driver entry and reporting process as well as improving the overall validity of data entered.

American Transit, a 350-vehicle operator serving New York City, opted for Chevin's PC-based system, RoadBASE.

'These are exciting times as Chevin is really gathering momentum here in the USA,' said Ron Katz, vice-president North American sales for Chevin Fleet Solutions. 'The Chevin name is getting out and more and more companies are contacting us.'
