LLOYDS TSB autolease has launched a text messaging service which alerts customers when their car is ready for collection following repairs.

The move will ensure a faster response and vehicles are back on the road in a shorter time.

David Kershaw, director of operations at Lloyds TSB autolease, said: 'We have 6,000 drivers to telephone each month and the use of text messaging will make a big difference to how quickly we can update them. The move is part of a series of measures planned for 2003 designed to enhance driver services.'

Up to 10 drivers can be contacted at the same time and text messages can be tailored to individual drivers.
