BRITISH Car Auctions has teamed up with MG Rover for its first 'Live On Line' auction of the year, which used video and a live audio set to enable online bidders to compete with those in the auction hall.

Online bidders could view a sales catalogue, list of purchases and bidding history while watching a live broadcast of the sale taking place at BCA Blackbushe. In total, 110 vehicles were sold with 23 bought by bidders over the internet and more than half receiving bids via the web. Screens in the hall display online bids ensuring the system is totally transparent.

Keith Rogers, director of BCA's remarketing services, said: 'BCA Live On Line brings many benefits to sellers by creating additional buying power. For manufacturers, there is the opportunity to widen the constituency of their sale, giving a greater number of franchised and approved buyers the opportunity to bid on direct entered stock.'
