BMW has introduced a new base level Compact while also adding a number of four cylinder Sport models at the bottom end of the 3-series range.

The new 316ti ES is priced at £15,995 on-the-road – £275 cheaper than the previous entry level model – with sports suspension, 16-inch alloy wheels, CD player and leather steering wheel among the standard specification. An ES model has also been added to the 320td range.

The addition of the Sport specification to four cylinder cars means that 316i, 318i saloons and Tourings and 316ti, 318td and 320td Compacts now come with the 17-inch M alloys, M bodystyling, sports seats and M steering wheel. Prices start at £19,065 on-the-road for the Compacts and £21,150 for the saloons.
