STEVE Lawley, general manager in charge of Greater Manchester Ambulance Service's fleet of vehicles for more than 20 years, has retired.

During his career with GMAS, he has been responsible for looking after more than 400 vehicles and managing three workshops.

GMAS chief executive John Burnside said: 'Steve has played a key role in the developments and improvements within GMAS and is widely respected, not just within our service, but throughout the entire national ambulance service.'
