Traffic stable

TRAFFIC levels on UK roads have remained fairly stable during the past 12 months, rising just 1% during the year, according to the Department for Transport's quarterly figures.

The second quarter of this year saw little change in traffic levels on motorways, while it fell on minor rural and urban roads. However, major rural and urban roads saw increases of 3.1% and 3.2% respectively compared with the same period last year.
