CITROEN is to combine massive price cuts with higher equipment levels in a bid to win a bigger share of Britain's light commercial vehicle market.

The most aggressive incentive package in the French company's history means the C15 Champ van now has a list price of under £5,000, the Berlingo costs less than £7,000 and even the new Dispatch range comes under the £10,000 ceiling.

Despite reaching an all-time high of 24,746 registrations last year, the UK's third largest CV supplier is still hungry for growth, according to operations manager Robert Handyside.

He said: 'We have worked hard to get to the number three position and this cashback programme shows how serious we are about staying there but I hope it will also help us make further in-roads in the market.'

Discounts of up to £3,500 will apply to the end of March across all models and will also apply to a new special edition line-up of nine vans ranging from the Xsara to the Relay. Called Enterprise, each has a high-value packaging including ABS, driver's airbag and CD player.
