LAND Rover stormed the Detroit Motor Show this week with its first ever concept car.

Called the Range Stormer (pictured), this smaller version of the Range Rover will compete with the Porsche Cayenne in the increasingly popular sports utility vehicle sector.

The V8-powered concept has two doors, while the production version will have four, but externally some of its mean looks will remain. It will be shorter than its big brother.

The radical interior, with its sculpted leather seats and futuristic dashboard, will be replaced by a more traditional Range Rover design.

Engines are likely to include the 2.7-litre diesel unit making its debut in the S-type soon, while other Jaguar derived petrol units will be used.
