Products: load carriers

A ROOFBOX enables drivers to carry additional luggage or equipment on top of their vehicles.

This version has a capacity of 370 litres and, unlike a traditional roof rack, contents inside the box are protected from the elements.

The outer shell of the case is durable and is fully waterproof. When the box is locked it cannot be removed from the top of the vehicle as fittings are inside the box.

A vehicle must have roof bars to enable a roof box to be fitted. Once attached to the bars, the roofbox should be almost silent in use. Boxes mounted too close to the roof are likely to generate a whistling noise.

THE Braatpaq is designed to look like a traditional laptop carrying case, but comes with additional straps which enable it to be mounted over the front seat headrests, securing the computer and allowing passengers in the back to see the screen.

The laptop is opened and positioned in the bag so that the screen extends outside the bag. Children can transform this work tool into a portable DVD player when on the move.

Inner straps secure the laptop when in use and it can be fitted to the majority of vehicles.

THE Easi-Load system from Bri-Stor enables drivers working at ground level to load and secure ladders on to a roof rack. Easi-Load takes away the need to climb on to the van’s roof and improves in-transit load security.

The Easi-Load’s fixed outer carrier is mounted on a van’s roof just like a normal roof rack. The fixed carrier incorporates a sliding inner carrier which is unlocked at ground level by a combined key/pull handle. The sliding inner carrier is then drawn backwards so that it pivots into an upright position at the rear of the van. The operator then loads or unloads ladders, or items stored in special Bri-Stor roof-storage boxes.

SORTIMO’S Globelyst vehicle racking system has a low-weight and high-tensile strength as it uses an aluminium frame called the Aluspace Frame system made of individual light metal bracings.

Extension units require only one frame, saving on cost and weight. Drawers, service cases and shelves can be combined individually into one unit and come in different measurements to fit all on-site vehicles. Wheel arches can be bridged by the flexible system and bins can be pulled out like a drawer with a 2/3 extension, or stacked. Racking can be tailored to suit any size fleet or model of van and can be leased as well as outright purchased.

Price: variable depending on amount of racking required

BMW’s range of luggage enables motorcycle fleet drivers to carry objects while riding a bike.

The R1200 CL rucksack matches BMW’s cruiser/tourer, but is suitable for any rider.

It has a black and gold colour scheme and measures 52cm x 38cm x 29cm.

The rucksack has a capacity of 42 litres and has additional back padding which makes it safe and big enough to carry a laptop computer. It has a carrying handle and an active breathing back area.

BMW also has a Travel Bag XL which is more suitable for longer journeys and has 90 litres of storage space. A trolley frame is fitted with handle and rollers and has a removable key bag.

Price: R1200 £70, Travel Bag £110

THE H-MODUL van racking system can be installed by an individual driver, installed on-site or factory-fitted by the manufacturer. Mobile van rackers are able to travel to locations for fleets which want several vehicles racked out at once.

The group provides several pre-designed racking options but fleets can choose to design their own individual racking.

Shelves and supports are available in different heights and optional compartments such as drawers and lockers are available.

Fleets can also choose from a range of accessories including service cases and holders, draw dividers, hooks, handles, storage boxes and bins or pipe tubes and roof racks.

Price: variable, depending on amount of racking required
