FORGET red letter or track days, the latest must-do is a snowmobile safari covering 500 miles, past the Arctic Sea and across the Norwegian fjords.
The eight-day trip will test all driving abilities through varying terrain, via snow-covered forest, across frozen lakes and open fell and through deep snow.
Full instruction on managing the snowmobile, including all safety aspects, will be given on the trip, starting slowly and building up to 140 miles covered on the longest driving day. The trip also includes the opportunity to drive a reindeer-pulled sleigh and go on a boat cruise.
Every entertainment aspect is covered in Pioneer’s all-singing all-dancing in-car system.
The package, called AVIC-X1, is a DVD audiovisual entertainment system with memory navigation. Once the navigation system has been uploaded, it can be replaced with a DVD, allowing back-seat passengers to watch a film while the driver listens to the radio and uses the in-dash visual map to navigate. All functions are completed from the one system. A touch screen operates mapping functions but also responds using a voice recognition system that enables drivers to carry out address searches by speaking commands. The system also has a traffic message channel, MP3 player and an optional rear view-parking camera.
